***********
it occurs to me that some people, and in particular, a large % of girls, have a peculiar difficulty with this concept of logic. (please, i purposely avoid accusing all women. so rest assured, this statement does not apply to you. [if it makes you feel better... HAHAHAHAHA])

merely an OBSERVATION of things that happen around me, things that i've witnessed myself. i acknowledge that my data comes from a small sample of the population. but here it is:

everyone agrees 1+1=2, everyone agrees that there is such a concept as zero. but, i have seen time and time again, when facts just as objective are presented, ppl turn and oppose the logical conclusion. there is a myriad # of reasons. emotion. the desire to be "right." pride. you name it. you know it.

well, some facts are more objective than others, one might say. although by definition, this cannot be, experience has shown that there is a spectrum between objectivity and subjectivity, relative to different ppl. ok. but what about those that acknowledge facts that THEY deem objective, acknowledge the STEPS in logic, yet will deny the conclusion?

this confuses me terribly. no matter how much you want something to be, no matter how much you think something SHOULD be, no matter how much you think you are right, no matter how proud you are, when the objective facts are lined against you, how does one deny the conclusion? i like to be right just as much as anyone else (those that know me know that this is a slight understatement), but when hard facts are presented to me, i can readily admit that i am wrong. and this has happened many, many times to me. i take crushing blows because i like to go strong with what i believe.

i've seen ppl (incidentally or not, they were girls) be totally irrational. i don't understand this at all. how do you resolve something with someone who insists that 1+1=3? this is actually a big fear of mine, that i will marry someone like this. i believe that given 2 christians, most things can be prayed about and talked through, in a logical manner. however, if she refuses to communicate or if she refuses to acknowledge logic, then i am at a loss. what does one do?

btw, i don't have a particular person in mind, and i didn't have a recent fight with a girl or anyone, for that matter. C.S. Lewis' quote just awakened some thoughts in me.

so, someone explain this to me. please, let's not have heated and emotionally charged objections. i'm asking for explanations. i'm sure you've all seen or experienced this. don't deny that it exists. just tell me why.
